The earth breathes in
Holds
A waxwing gaily flits
Through the fresh, sullen gap
Between open road and empty sidewalk
Buoyed by the soft petrichor
Exhaled from rain speckled soil
A new perch sprouting from every unused bench
I watch past the bars and glass of my balcony
Freedom and Joy on the wing
By worry, unplagued
